Important Food Switch Instructions Inevitably we all choose the nutrition program we feel is right for our puppies. The following instructions , I feel, are important regardless if you continue the puppy food we have started them on, or switch to a food that you feel better about. HOWEVER! IT IS NOT RECOMMENDED TO SWITCH DOG/PUPPY FOOD FOR THE FIRST MONTH IN A NEW ENVIRONMENT, THIS CAN LEAD TO STOMACH UPSET WHICH IN TURN PROVIDES OPPORTUNITY FOR PARASITIC BLOOMS AND WORM BLOOMS IN THE BELLY. For Switching or Continuing the Current Puppy Food Always mix bowl of half/half of the current and new puppy food. To this mix add a dollop of Canned Pumpkin (not pumpking pie filling,no ingredients should be listed except pumpkin) In addition add a dollop of Plain or Vanilla Yogurt to the puppy's food. I always feed NuVet (the vitamin supplement) in the morning meal. The puppies feeding schedule is as follows: Adult Dogs get 3 - 3 1/2 C. Daily (usually fed once a day in the evening) Puppies get 2 2 1/2 Daily (usually split in two feedings) 6-7am Morning Breakfast 6-7pm Evening Meal Purchase distilled water (this is very inexpensive at Wal-Mart) and allow the puppy to drink distilled water for the first 5 days, then you can start mixing in your water and then in 4 or 5 more days they can then begin to drink the water from your tap. |
